My journey with Chinese medicine began as a young girl, often unwell with asthma, and reoccurring colds and flus. My mother took me to a local Chinese doctor who prescribed me herbal medicine, and I was amazed by how quickly I recovered. I was equally fascinated by his ability to know so much about my health simply through pulse and tongue diagnosis. This experience sparked curiosity, and reverance.
Years later, while studying a Bachelor of Naturopathy in my late twenties, my campus was close to Chinatown in Sydney. I often wandered over to the Chinese Herbal Dispensaries during study breaks, and spent a lot of time at the acupuncture teaching clinic, where I received regular treatments over several years. These sessions were profoundly transformative — easing my anxiety, grounding my energy, and leaving me with a deep sense of calm.
This personal experience inspired me to continue my studies, completing a Master’s in Acupuncture to integrate both naturopathic and Chinese medicine approaches. My ongoing studies in Classical Chinese Medicine with Jeffrey Yuen and exploration of Daoist philosophy continue to deepen my understanding and devotion as a lifelong student.
